  1. butter 8" pan
  2. set oven to 350°
  3. whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt
  4. heat water to near boiling in pan, remove from heat, stir in cubed butter
  5. combine butter/water with dry ingredients
  6. add eggs one at a time
  7. add molasses
  8. pour into pan, bake 35-45 minutes until inserted toothpick/knife returns clean
